Mission Lane Alta E. Lawrence Education Scholarship
•Posted on January 30 2017
During my visit to Sierra Leone over the holidays, one of my goals was to launch our scholarship program. I've mentioned in the past how my grandma was a teacher on Bonthe Island for over 20+ years who stressed how important it is to get an education, so much that she started helping those outside of our family achieve theirs.
Starting in January 2017, Mission Lane launched the Alta E. Lawrence Education Scholarship. This scholarship is available to students currently enrolled in school on Bonthe Island, Sierra Leone who need assistance in further their education. The scholarship provides one full year of school tuition, book bag, school supplies, school uniform, and shoes.
Our first scholarship recipient, was picked by my grandma. Mariama was chosen because of her reputation in town for being hardworking not only in the classroom, but also at home with helping out her family. Here's a picture of Mariama and her family.
