Who are you? What do you do?

My name is Dr. Yetunde A. Odugbesan-Omede. I am a Professor of Global Affairs and Political Science. I am also the CEO of Yetunde Global Consulting and Founder of Young Woman's Guide. 

What’s your mission?

 To empower people to be leaders and to help them find their passion and purpose.

Why not just be great at what you do? Why give back?

 To whom much is given much is required. Greatness to me is actualizing your fullest potential and helping others to do the same. Purpose to me is realizing why you are here on this earth and what message/service you are here to do. Finding your purpose has nothing to do with you it comes down to one central focus which is to serve.

What organizations do you feel the closest to and why?

 Young Woman's Guide and BeBold Foundation because we are helping and teaching young women and children to be bold, embrace their uniqueness and hopefully use that to change the world.

Are there specific people that had a big influence on your desire to give back, if so who are they and how did they influence you?

 Yes, so many to name. My mother who is a nurturer at heart and as a pediatric nurse, I realized early on that her profession was her purpose. She loved children and that had a huge impact on me as a child and now as a mother. One my mentors Dr. Marc Holzer who further taught me the importance of public service, we even wrote a book together titled, "Quotes on Public Service"...of course the legendary Ms. Oprah Winfrey, for teaching me how to embrace the many passions we have and how to use to create change and leave an impact. I've had many mentors they all taught me great things both personal and from afar.

If you could ask for 3 things in this world what would it be?

 Wisdom, Love and Long Life

What’s your life motto?

It's by Marianne Williamson, titled, Our Deepest Fear, she says, "...We ask ourselves, 'Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?' Who are you not to be...?"
